You’ve got to try this Honey Ginger Chicken—once you do, it’ll be on repeat in your dinner rotation!
Why You’ll Love Honey Ginger Chicken
This dish makes weeknight cooking a breeze. It’s flavorful, cost-effective, and uses common pantry staples available at any grocery store.
For the juiciest results, I always recommend using boneless chicken thighs with the skin on—the texture and taste are unbeatable.

A Takeout Favorite at Home
Honey Ginger Chicken has always been one of my favorite orders at Chinese restaurants—and now you can make it just as good at home.
If you’re vegetarian, simply swap the chicken for tofu—it soaks up the sauce beautifully. The sauce couldn’t be easier: just whisk together honey, ginger, garlic, and soy sauce.
For those who enjoy a splash of alcohol, adding a bit of sake enhances the flavor even more.
Crispy-Skinned Ginger Chicken Goodness
We begin by pan-frying the chicken to crisp up the skin. This not only adds crunch but also infuses the sauce with rich flavor from the chicken fat.
To keep the recipe gluten-free, I coat the chicken with cornstarch. You can also use other gluten-free alternatives like tapioca starch or rice flour.
A thin dusting of cornstarch does the trick—shake off the excess and you’re good to go! It creates a light, crisp coating while keeping the inside juicy and tender.
